Methods of leak detection

1. Chemical detection method

This method involves the detection of elements such as hydrogen and helium. Occasionally, packed foods contain food preservative gases such as helium. For this reason, in case there is a puncture in the container the gas in the tin will find its way out. As a result, helium detector is used to sniff out the gas and determine where there is a leak in the packed tins. This method is commonly used due to its effective abilities and the ease of functionality.

2. Pressure/Vacuum method

When preservative gases are introduced in the packed food, pressure is applied in order to effectively fill the container with the required amount of pressure. For this reason, the leak detection equipment heavily relies on the available pressure in measuring the presence of leaks in packed food products. A peneterant is applied on the testing material then left for a period before a developer solution is later added to enable the flaw to be invisible.

4. Acoustic method

This method involves the use of acoustic waves. These waves are capable of incorporating high-pressure gases that determine fluid leaks. Nevertheless, ultrasound microphone gadgets technicalities are required. The gadget is capable of determining the loudest part on the container from the acoustic waves produced.
